Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a rare form of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Though it appears low-grade, it grows fast and spreads quickly to different parts of the body. Treatcome outcomes with chemotherapy are poor, with most patients relapsing within a year or two after treatment.

A new group of biological agents have recently shown promise in the treatment of MCL. They are called proteasome inhibitors, and the drug called Bortezomib (Velcade) has been tried in patients who have relapsed after initial chemotherapy.

Trials in the US and Canada have shown that Bortezomib shows response in a large number of patients and prevents disease progression for nearly a year. Read more about Mantle Cell Lymphoma Treatment and Velcade in MCL.
