Rituximab (Rituxan/Mabthera) is a monoclonal antibody drug that has become one of the most potent weapons against many types of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL). It is used along with standard chemotherapy drugs or even alone in the treatment of common lymphomas like diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, follicular lymphoma and mantle cell lymphoma.
Allergic reactions are quite common after infusions of Rituximab. Most of the time, the reactions are mild and subside quickly if the infusion is slowed down. Rarely, more severe reactions may occur that may require treatment in intensive care units and avoidance of further use of Rituximab. Why is Rituxan allergy so common? What are its signs and symptoms? How can it be prevented and treated? Find out in the article Allergic Reactions to Rituximab.
