Ethan Zohn, winner of reality TV show Survivor: Africa and philanthropist received a stem cell transplant earlier this week to treat Hodgkin lymphoma, reports People Magazine.
Ethan was initially diagnosed with lymphoma in 2008 and was treated at that time with chemotherapy as well as an autologous stem cell transplant. While this kept his cancer in remission for more than two years, he revealed this past November that the cancer had recurred. He suggested at that time that he was considering a future allogeneic transplant, with his brother as the donor.
Showing his true competitive nature, much like he did this past Fall running the NYC Marathon while undergoing cancer treatment, Ethan hopes to inspire others by breaking a new record for fastest hospital discharge following stem cell transplant. Best wishes to Ethan and his loved ones
