Definition: An anitbody is a protein formed by the body to fight infections or foreign matter. Antibodies are produced by certain blood cells in response to these agents. Antibodies can also recognize tumor cells. Advances in medicine have produced antibodies which can recognize cancers like lymphomas. These are known as monoclonal antibodies. Monoclonal antibodies are currently being used very succesfully in treating different types of lymphomas.
