Definition:

Malignancy is the name given to the prescence of a cancerous tumor.

Malignant tumors (cancers) arise when one or some of the body's own cells start behaving abnormally and show the following characteristics:

  • Grow and multiply fast without the usual checks and controls
  • Invade and detroy nearby tissues and organs
  • Spread to other parts of the body
